Getting started
Sow seed directly into a finely prepared bed and thin crowded seedlings. Make small sowings rather than one large row if you want a regular supply.
The right conditions
Use moist, fertile, friable soil. Many small salad radishes do best in cooler conditions; larger radish types have different growth rates.
As it grows
Keep the seedbed moist and prevent weeds from competing with young plants. Slow, stressed growth can reduce eating quality.
Ready to harvest
Check roots frequently and pull them as soon as they reach a useful size. Leaving salad radishes too long can make them tough and pungent. Use the variety's expected size as your guide.
